Makeup Removers

The quintessential step for all who adores makeup and I'm no exception - The makeup removal step and what I have tried so far coupled with my thoughts on it......



Let's get started -


The all-time trusted cleanser - Demerlogica Precleanse

Pros:
My all-time go-to makeup remover!! It is light weight but yet it does get all the gunk off at the end of the day and best of all, it leaves your face feeling light and refreshed..... It is not often that you get a makeup remover that does the work and still leave your skin fresh from it

Cons:
The cost - I paid more than SGD80 for 150 ml of it!! Granted that it does last a long time, but still, it's pricey for something that works only to remove the makeup. As much as I love it, I would still think twice about re-purchasing it.

However, I have friends that swore by it and would not think of switching to anything else cause they have such sensitive skin and only this little darling does the work. So, it's really a decision between you and your skin on whether it's a worthy splurge for you... :o)


Ponds Cold Cream


Pros: A classic that generations of women have sworn by and still swears by it today - I can totally see why this could be so. It's cheap, removes everything you have on your face without the harsh feeling of some cleansers.
Cons: However, this cream does tissue off slightly greasy and this might not be a pleasant sensation which some woman would wanna put up with. And I tend not to use this near to my eyes as it does get a little messy and I'm worried that it will sting my eyes. But I guess that's just a little pet peeve of mine.
Johnson and Johnson's Baby Wipes



I can't conduct any reviews on this yet as this is the latest product I learnt that could be used for removing all the gunk that we slap on our face. But I can tell you that this is cheap, cheap cheap.... I only paid SGD6.90 for a pack containing 80 sheets!! Reviews upcoming for this once I start using this. :o)

The Miracle Worker!!

I have heard about the Advanced Night Repair series from Esatee Lauder and hell, I've even worked in Estee Lauder before. But duing the brief stint that I did in Estee Lauder, the girls were all obsessed with La Mer products and hardly any mention was made to the ANR series. And so, when a close friend came up to me raving about the goodness of it, I as skeptical.... Very skeptical in fact.....

So here come a tiny sample bottle of ANR just so I could see what the hype is all about.....

And that single small sample bottle of ANR turned into this heap of sample bottles of ANR!!!!

Oh, I'm a believer of this product right here right now!! Just after a week of using it, my makeup goes on much easier and it stays fresh even after 8 hours of wear. My skin feels more supple and moisturized. I'm a convert!! Of course, I'm not sure about how effective this product is long term, but that's the purpose of this blog - to continuously update on my beauty woes and triumphs!! :o)
P.S: The ANR was purchased in form of sample bottles from a shop in Chinatown as this comes up to a better deal than purchasing the actual size.

Ahava Anyone??

I was trodding along aimlessly one Friday evening after knocking off and I bumped into this new shop, Ahava at Junction 8 selling beauty care products infused with the goodness of dead sea minerals....

Cue *retail therapy*!! It's been a hard week at work afterall.... :o)

Lifting some information from the brochure:

...... Minerals are crucial in enabling cell metabolism - real triggers of the skin's natural functions. They aid in the transfer and retention of moisture into the skin's top layers, detoxify skin cells and fight premature aging.......

And the haul -

Soaps, Bath Salts, Mineral Mud

Dead Sea mineral mud - meant for soothing and purifying of the skin and it's meant to help detox the body after leaving it on for 7-15 minutes. This mud treatment for the body promises to be a little messy in the shower, but the effects might be worth all the trouble afterall. Have full intention to use this in the showers within the week, shall report back on the effects of it....

Dead Sea Mineral Mud

Dead Sea Bath Crystals - Ok, I don't have a bath tub and this product is meant to be used as a bath salt but I bought it anyway!! The salt crystals are rich in minerals and it will help to rejuvenate your skin after soaking in the mineral infused water.

So how do I intend to us it without a bath tub in sight?? According to the SA, I can scoop a tablespoon of the crystals into a tiny bowl of water, dissolve it and soak a shower cloth in it before rubbing it all over the body. Again, not sure how this would work out exactly but definitely sounds intriguing enough to have a go......

Mineral Salt Soap - This is the most basic product that I have walked out of the shop with: soaps!! This soap contains a special blend of dead sea minerals essential to healthy skin. In addition, this is a soapless soap that will cleanse as it revitalize and restores the skin's natural pH.

This is really a relatively new range of products in Singapore and I cant find much reviews on it even after googling it. Really looking forward to trying all the stuff out in the showers and report back... :o)

Bath & Body Works Haul

This post is only made possible by the kind act of friends lugging the seemingly endless bottles of Both & Body Works lotion all the way from the States back to Singapore and then handing them over to me.... The results - a happy Joey clutching her 9 bottles of body lotion and then not knowing where to stash them in her room that's already brimming with such stuff.... :o)

But bearing in mind the truckloads of body lotions I've amassed in my collection, I guess it's only wise to really use up the older ones first before they turn bad. I hate to do this, but I really do need to impose a ban on purchasing further body lotions till I finish some cause I can start seeing my money going down the drain with some turning rancid before they're used up... :o(

Beauty Lemming Going Out of Whack??

I'm just going to be direct for this post - I bought a hella lot of facial masks. I don't know when I will be able to finish all these masks before they expire bearing in mind that i already have a drawer full full of them but I will definitely need to try. So let's share the love around.... :o)

Aqua Sense masks from Watsons going for SGD12.90 for 12 sheets on normal days and now they're having a 20% + 5% off the regular price if you're a Watsons member. I've tried the SOD Red Wine masks from the same series before and I really like the fit as well as the effect after using it. Hence, I picked up the lavender and natto masks taking into account the attractive prices. The lavender masks are meant for relieving, moisturizing and soothing whereas the natto series is meant for deep and long-lasting hydration.


Clay masks from Nature Republic. I'd be honest and say that I picked these up purely because of the innovative packaging. Stay tune to know how the masks work out to be....


My hot picks from TFS - Detox and Anti-oxidation gel masks and their white tree black alchemy brightening mask. These are re-pruchases for me so I really like the performance of both of these masks.A new area that I've recently forayed into.... DIY masks with moisturizing lotion of toner. I've only tried this a couple of times and I've done it so sparse and few in between that it would really be unfair to comment on how these DIY masks match up to those availabe off the shelf.
I'm going to spend most of the time during this Chinese New Year period to jump start on my beauty regime again. I've been so stressed out with work of late that the only I've done is to cleanse my face and sleep. Yes... I skipped all the toning and moisturizing let alone the masks that I should have done. But before that....

Woman of Leisure....

I'm a woman of leisure for all but 2 weeks. And I made good use of my time by spending close to 2 hours on my manicure below... Haha... I have to admit that I am terrible at polishes and not to mention colours akin to a light baby pink that shows off ALL mistakes.

And I realized after having it on that it looks very similar to OPI's Mod About You, which is a very popular shade with many. Since we are on the topic of Etude House and OPI polish, I have to say that I've been very impressed with the formula of Etude House's polish. They apply well and gives a very creamy finish within 3 coats (3 coats was required for Mod About You as well) at a fraction of OPI's price. I can't remember the exact price but it's hardly compared to the exorbitant amount of moo-lah we have to pay in Singapore for a bottle of OPI polish. Hence, if this shade of pink is your cup of tea, pop by Etude House to pick this baby up.

And what's a woman of leisure without spending some time out with friends shopping and having tea along Orchard work while everyone else is busy working.... :o) I have a wardrobe full of nice and chic clothes and yet when i go out, I pull out the simplest short denim skirt and a t-shirt to pair with my flats and off I go.... Really say alot about comfort Vs style for me!!

One too many??

I really should not be a lady of leisure - I bought a total of 10 bottles of nail polish all within a span of 2 days from both TFS and Skin Food. I'm recently inspired by all the nail tutorials which I've viewed on Youtube to be a little bit more adventurous on my nails so the sudden interest in bright colours. Will have to try out the tutorials that I have viewed and share the results.... :o)
